Bundling in the Gaming Industry (Analytical Writing)
I speak about the project Here.
Team Size: 1
Role: Writer.
Development Cycle: 20 weeks (10 planning, 10 interviewing and writing).
Description: Bundling in the Gaming Industry is an honors thesis project with special thanks to Brian Schrank (Thesis Director) and Jay Margalus (Second Reader). In the project, I look at the recent movement of bundling games together in "pay what you want" bundles, and how these bundles impact the video games industry.
POSTMORTEM
Core Tasks:
-Research.
-Writing and iterating those writings.
-Verbal presentation of thesis.
What went well:
- I had several interesting points of data in this presentation.
- The general structure of the paper was set up very well and progressed naturally.
- Using factual evidence, I was able to accurately defend my thesis statement.
What went wrong:
- It was difficult to demonstrate non financial 'value' invested into the game.
- My paper generally favored primary sources, which are not free of bias.
What I learned:
-Offering your games at a deep discount dramatically increases financial gain and units sold.
