Description: Tick Tock Toybox is a turn based strategy student project developed in Unity. Time is a core resource, as players create time sensitive units and attempt to capture their opponents flag.
Core Tasks:
-Reporting all progress to our professor.
-Managing asset pipelines.
-Level, System, and Gameplay Design.
POSTMORTEM
What went well:
-Players really enjoyed the environments presented and the units we created.
-Money coins were placed to encourage player exploration.
-Units are very balanced, with each possessing advantages, disadvantages, and intended uses.
-Rock, paper, scissors attack triangle in place to allow for choice driving skilled play.
What went wrong:
-Level as a whole was very linear, and players favored straight line attacking despite money coins motivating player exploration.
-Money element wasn't clearly communicated to the player.
-River placement favored the Red team, thus creating imbalance.
What I learned:
-Every player is motivated by different things, and these motivations don't always drive level design.
-Players resonate with unique and charming characters.
